:: Session Notes ::
1 - Shouts and spirituals performed by the Georgia Sea Island Singers (known as the Spiritual Singers of Coastal Georgia at the time), recorded at St. Simons Island, off the coast of Brunswick, Georgia. Hobart Smith, the multi-instrumentalist from Saltville, Virginia, and Ed Young, the Como, Mississippi, fife player, accompany the group on several numbers. This session was most likely practice for the "Music of Williamsburg" film shot at the end of the month, and for which Lomax served as music supervisor (see session Williamsburg 4/60). :: Recording Notes ::
0 - Lomax identifies two of the singers on this track as what appears to be "Rena" and "Lomsburgh." No other information is available, and though Rena seems like a feasible name, Lomsburgh does not (as it turns up no results in a Social Security Death Index search). Thus the second woman is listed as "unidentified." [Source: Editor]
