1 - A series of songs by a group of women in the Amazigh / Berber village of Aguelmouss in Ouarzazate Province. These dance songs feature rhythmic accompaniment on the naqus, a percussion instrument which consists of a brass tray which is beaten with iron rods.
:: Recording Notes ::
0 - The ?Moulay Hassan? referred to in this song is most likely the contemporary King Hassan II (1929-1999) of Morocco?s Alouite Dynasty, though he could also be a locally-revered Sufi master or perhaps even Al-Hassan ibn ?Ali ibn Abi Talib (the Prophet?s grandson), though this is less likely.
