It begins with a fife and drum group performing instrumental tunes, followed by a scratch band performing instrumental tunes interspersed with speeches and banter, and concludes with a calypso group. Roger Abrahams and Antoinette Marchand are the interviewers on this session. Some of the recordings (as well as speech transcriptions) can be found on Caribbean Voyage: Nevis and St. Kitts (Rounder 1731). [Source: Recordings and Field Log]
:: Recording Notes ::
0 - Performance consists of solo singing (with the exception of some response sections towards the end) and is preceded by a short spoken introduction. Charles Walters is the composer of this tune despite Santoy?s claim to the contrary (Abrahams, Roger, Caribbean Voyage: Nevis and St. Kitts, Rounder 82161-1731-2). [Source: Recording and Liner Notes]
