:: Session Notes ::
1 - There are few notes on these recordings. Several of the performers announce that they are from the town of Sabaneta, but there are about a dozen places with this name in the Dominican Republic so the region is uncertain. Although the first few tracks are played by a Cibao-type accordion group, merengue típico cibaeño has been popular in other regions as well since at least the 1950s. The largest town called Sabaneta is near the capital, so they may have been recorded there. [Source: Editor]
:: Recording Notes ::
0 - Performer recites lyrics to the second part of the merengue on track 3: "Yo sí la quería / Y todavía la quiero / Pero enamorarla / Es que no me atrevo" (I did love her / And I still love her / But to make love to her / I do not dare). He states that it is an old song. [Source: Editor]
